About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received my MSW from The University of Denver, where I also completed an Animal-Assisted Social Work Certificate. I work with a registered therapy animal, upon client request/clinical need. I believe everyone needs to be met with compassion and acceptance because it takes courage to come to counseling.

As a queer counselor, I look to empower clients to love and embrace their authentic selves. I work collaboratively with clients to develop a plan to manage challenges, make changes, and build skills. My focus is working with children, adolescents, and young adults ranging from 12 to 35 years of age who experience depression, grief, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), symptoms related to the Autism Spectrum, difficult life transitions, anxiety, addictions, out-of-home care, and trauma-related issues.

My favorite quote regarding the power of resiliency is: “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, sensitivity, and understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.”

I primarily use EMDR, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness skills, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), art therapeutic techniques, and animal-assisted interventions with clients, while also focusing on individual and family strengths/supports.

  • School social worker at two alternative schools in Denver: Responsible for conducting individualized observational data tracing in order to obtain IEP behaviors information, leading interdisciplinary IEP meetings in accordance with ADA and state requirements, administering and interpreting assessments (e.g. BASC, SSIS, SEL), creating behavioral intervention plans (BIPs, implementing positive behavior intervention supports (PBIS), utilizing restorative justice techniques to resolve student conflict, and providing weekly individual and group social emotional support
     

  • Private practice therapist in South Carolina: Served Medicaid clients, provided individual therapy and family services to children and adults aged 5-36, and attended case staffings and supervision meetings
     

  • School social work intern at Denver Public Schools: Responsible for case management, intake assessments, treatment plans, and individualized interventions
     

  • Registered Behavior Technician: Provided individualized behavioral intervention services to children with special needs and support to their families

Outside of the mental health field

In my spare time, I enjoy indoor/outdoor climbing, long walks with my dog Ari, gardening, and camping!
